STATEMENT FROM THE JUDICIAL CONDUCT

INVESTIGATIONS OFFICE

Philip Moles JP

A spokesperson for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office Said:

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb DBE, on behalf of the Lord Chief Justice and with the Lord Chancellor’s agreement, has issued Philip Moles JP of the Gwent bench with a formal warning for offensive behaviour towards a police officer while under the influence of alcohol. In reaching their decision, they took into consideration that Mr Moles had been suffering from ill health and believed that when the police officer telephoned him, it was a hoax. Mr Moles accepted responsibility for his actions and apologised.
