STATEMENT FROM THE JUDICIAL CONDUCT

INVESTIGATIONS OFFICE

Maryam Cleary JP

A spokesperson for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said:

Mr Justice Keehan, on behalf of the Lord Chief Justice and with the Lord Chancellor’s agreement, has issued Maryam Cleary JP of the County Durham and Darlington Bench with formal advice for accruing nine penalty points on her driving licence for three speeding offences and for failing to report the matter to her bench chair. In reaching their decision, they took into consideration that Mrs Cleary had a long and previously unblemished record of conduct and that she had not deliberately sought to conceal the matter from her bench chair.
