STATEMENT FROM THE JUDICIAL CONDUCT

INVESTIGATIONS OFFICE

Adrian Tasker JP

A spokesperson for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said:

Mr Justice Keehan, on behalf of the Lord Chief Justice and with the Lord Chancellor’s agreement, has issued Adrian Tasker JP with formal advice for misconduct.

On appointment, magistrates sign a declaration and undertaking, which includes a commitment to complete essential training. Failure to do so without a reasonable excuse is liable to result in disciplinary action.

Mr Tasker was required to complete a piece of essential training by a set date, but failed to do so despite being sent reminders. Following an investigation carried out under the Judicial Conduct (Magistrates) Rules 2014, the Midlands Conduct Advisory Committee found that his actions amounted to misconduct.

In recommending a sanction of formal advice, the advisory committee acknowledged that Mr Tasker, who has a lengthy and previously unblemished record of service, had accepted responsibility for his actions. Mr Justice Keehan and the Lord Chancellor agreed with the advisory committee’s findings and recommendation.
