STATEMENT FROM THE JUDICIAL CONDUCT

INVESTIGATIONS OFFICE

Miss Lorraine Corrigan JP

A spokesperson for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said:

Miss Lorraine Corrigan JP, a magistrate appointed to the Kent Local Justice Area, was subject to a conduct investigation after she made remarks to her colleagues which suggested that she holds prejudices incompatible with the requirements of her role. The Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice found that Miss Corrigan’s behaviour amounted to serious misconduct and would have removed her from office had she not voluntarily resigned.
